Frequently Asked Questions

  • This practice operates on a private-pay basis, so I do not accept insurance. Payment is due at the time of service. A superbill is available upon request for clients who choose to pursue possible out-of-network reimbursement with their insurance provider. Coverage and reimbursement are determined by the individual insurance plan.

It’s helpful to find out specifics of your mental health coverage with your insurance company(ies) by asking questions such as:

    • Is there a deductible?

    • How many visits per year are covered?

    • Is authorization required?

    • Which services are covered (e.g., couples therapy, group therapy, phone sessions)?

  • I have limited availability for new clients and can share current openings upon request.

  • To respect both our time and schedules, appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed without notice will be charged the full session fee. Exception is made for emergencies.

  • Fee is set for counseling sessions at a comparable rate to those in the area. Sessions are approximately 50 minutes. Contact me for further details. Please let me know if session cost becomes a concern.

  • Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation for our work together. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any relevant background information. I’ll also review important topics such as confidentiality, scheduling, and fees, and answer any questions you may have.

This session is conversational and paced with care. You are not expected to share everything at once, and you are always in control of what you choose to discuss. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer sense of your needs and next steps, including whether ongoing therapy feels like a good fit.
